Sunday, January 16, 2011 - Sampled 1/15/11. When first poured, there was a soft but slightly gritty element to the tannins. After letting sit for an hour, the gritty element (which was just ultra fine sediment) went to the bottle of the bottle. The wine is the best Pahlmeyer I've had. Beautifully layered black and red fruits that are overripe but short of jammy. Vanilla and Chocolate notes also come through and given the smoothness of the wine it reminded me in some respects of a warm icecream sundae with just the right amount of natural fruit toppings. A very interesting wine that is at peak but has another 5 years left in its current top form.
