1997 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Friday, May 31, 2019 - Very ripe fruit (and I mean very ripe), mainly blackberry, but with some suggestion of red berries. Hints of tobacco and sous bois cut through, but in general were subsumed by the ripe fruit. A little volatile on the nose. Thickly textured and mildly cloying. Go figure: a low-acid fruit bomb at 20+ years. Good, but not as good as the 1995 version, which featured less ripe fruit and a little more energy.
