Thursday, April 4, 2024 - Very small glass pnp to see where we’re starting from. Everything you’d want it to be on the nose; cedar, vanilla, dark fruit, obviously tannic but 3 hours in the decanter before dinner should sort that out…

4 hours in the decanter sorted it out. At least, that tasted like peak to me. But it didn’t get any worse for the next two hours either.

At its best, it was very drinkable, still perceptibly structured, quite floral on the nose but fierce on the palate; iron and red fruits. 6 hours in a decanter can’t do what 6 years in a bottle can, so I’m guessing that’s what would serve this wine well.

Nice now, better later.
