Thursday, September 21, 2023 - Popped and poured. Continues the string of early-drinking '18s; can't remember many vintages of this quality tasting quite so nice at such a young age. Especially St. Estephe. Very dark garnet, with decent red legs on the bowl of the glass. Nose is young, with quite a bit of dill right off the bat. But there is plenty of nice young, rich fruit apparent as well. Quite approachable in the mouth, does not seem tannic at all, though it has plenty of depth, richness, and body. Rarely have I tasted a Bordeaux of this depth without much more brutal tannin. There is some alcohol in evidence on the finish. I will be very interesting to follow this wine as it develops. Almost an enigma tonight. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.
