Monday, July 31, 2023 - 97+ wow. The nose is powerful, gorgeous, and intense with a dense core of highly extracted stewed peach, smoke, orchid blossoms, and vanilla, with a brooding baby’s diaper funk that is beautiful in its integration, staying in the background where it belongs but nonetheless adding a funky interest to a wine erupting with the freshest fruit and flower smells and pretty Tahitian vanilla lended by gentile oak treatment.

The palate is ridiculously juicy and fresh with acidity beckoning pink grapefruit and blood peach juice, with all of the primary aromas showing as it glides across the tongue, leaving enough of a coating to finish long but gracefully, but the one-two punch of the smell and taste will have you sticking your nose right back into the glass and then taking another sip.

Polished, nuanced, and balanced so well it’s astonishing because so many of the components are so powerful and gripping. A masterpiece. Halibut with clam fumet, bacon, and fines herbes, broccolini, chestnut mushrooms, and fingerling potatoes. A natural with fish and shellfish, why not go all out?
