90 Points

Wednesday, June 8, 2022 - At Kaum, Bali. This was decently good drinking, especially with our lightly spiced Balinese food. The nose was rich and deep, with dark notes of plums and blackberries, dried earth, smoke, and a little shade of graphite. There was a touch of glycerol floating in there which threw the bouquet off a little. Otherwise, pretty pleasant. The palate was simple but yummy enough, with sweet, ripe notes of blackberries and plums, these seasoned with spice and wild brush herbs, and then a dark chocolate finish touched with a little sprig of peppermint. A big wine, but nicely balanced enough, with some acidity and a touch of powdery tannins forming a nice frame for the wine. Nothing special, but this was not a bad drink at all.
