2017 Opus One

Monday, December 25, 2023 - I prefer the understated Bordeaux style I believe this tries to achieve — especially one with some Brett influences like Opus. That said it’s difficult to get past how massively overpriced this is.

Quite young to be fair, for this style, but the nose shows rather simplistic red cherry mixed with possible lees notes, hint of cassis, tobacco, and warm pencil shavings.

Palate is balanced with moderate powdery tannin and prominent acidity.
