Sunday, October 15, 2023 - Bursts with complex aromatics emphasizing the earthy side of VCC with all that tree-bark and forestal stuff that gets irresistably truffly with age. The first impression on the palate is that the cabernet franc is really driving the wine this year, with all this etched, linear detail. But as it sits in the glass you can feel the plummy merlot bursting at the seems, building in intensity and sweetness. The tannins are quite powerful and grippy but had turned to ultrafine powder in the glass's worth left in the bottle the next day.
