Wednesday, December 6, 2023 - Decanted and poured, this wine has very little sentiment at this stage. The bouquet is expressive and combination of maturing and youthful dark fruits. This are underlying herbal notes in the bouquet that add complexity and depth. The wine is a dark, rusted kind of ruby color. the medium full bodied palate shows a lengthy finish and excellent overall balance. This bottle seems typical of "Ca' del Merlo" with the preference here (in general) for the Quintarelli "Valpolicella". This wine should continue to drink well over the next 5 to 10 years (at least?).
