Wednesday, January 23, 2008 - Very funky nose right after opening, just this side of barnyard. But after 20 mins and with food, the dark fruits began to present. Surprisingly supple and weighty on the palate, considering vintage and rank (and more approachable than young Gouges seems to have the rep for, even at bourgogne level). Next day, more mineral and red berry flavors emerged. Enjoyable, if somewhat rustic.
