Wednesday, January 27, 2021 - The End of the Golden Weather: a pre-COVID-19 Visit to Central Otago in Autumn 2020: About 30% whole bunch. From a high, exposed site, in the context of Bannockburn. Darker ruby than the Gibbston. Also a darker fruited, more complex nose than the Gibbston with baking spices, warm tilled earth and strong notes of bramble and dry underbrush. On palate, shy and tight. Well structured. Fine and linear with good freshness and sparkling acidity. More black fruit, earth and bramble than the Gibbston. Drink from now but would benefit from a couple of years cellaring. A stand out Pinot. Rated: 2/4
