Saturday, April 20, 2024 - Nose of black cherries and dark fruit with some herbs and a touch of freshly sliced, green bell pepper with occasional whiffs of violets. Palate echoes. This wine really explodes in the mouth for a Chilean cab (usually more refined and smooth) and follows with big vegetal/herbal finish. There is plenty of acidity and some tannins remain, so plenty of aging room left. At the end of the day, a little disappointing given high professional marks, and I think it has to do with this wine's more vegetal/herbal elements. I did enjoy it though, just expected more and different... *Le Petit Clos is Clos Apalta's second wine. *2016 vintage comprised of: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4%Merlot, and 1% Carmenère. *Clos Apalta winery is owned by Lapostolle.
