92 Points

Saturday, January 8, 2022 - Appearance: deep ruby.
Nose: medium intensity; aromas of chocolate, black cherry, dark plum, medicinal, vanilla, cinnamon, a little syrupy, blueberry, prune. It’s developing.
Palate: dry, high acidity, medium plus tannins, high alcohol, full body, medium plus flavour intensity, medium plus finish.
Very good wine. Drink well now, can age as well.
Very dark, intense and quite ripe but not over-ripe. The acidity gives it good balance. Good with stewed meat. Didn’t expect Montepulciano to be like this, but interesting experience. Seems quite a lot of new oak. In blind tasting, I would probably think it’s entry level Amarone (because of the ripe fruit and medicinal characters) or some from Southern Italy such as Aglianico.
