The promising nose, evident structure, and occasional whiff of smoke and hint of cigar-box evokes Bordeaux . . . before the muscular fruit, assertive tannins, and that faint trace of burnt rubber arrive to locate the wine firmly in SA, leaving a feeling of slight disappointment. Evens out a little during the evening, but no great shakes, and I can't imagine that further bottle age will materially improve the experience.
