Community Tasting Note

Wednesday, September 17, 2014 - Same as with my last bottle in August 2013: this is resolving texturally, but it hasn't really developed much complexity. The sides are smoother than when this was a young wine (I recall it being very angular), but the palate is dark and still unevolved and primary and, to be truthful, somewhat dull and lacking in intellectual appeal. Typing this, it occurs to me that I am describing my experience with a lot of the Petite Sirah from California that I have tasted: dark and unevolved and lacking in intellectual appeal. As I wrote about this wine last year, perhaps this wine will be best as an older wine, because years one through nine have not been great.
Amali with the Westport guys.
