7/25/2022 8:03:00 AM - QL…Napa wine prices are absurd now. I don’t know that the release price was but it’s $200 now. I bought a case and a half of the 2015 Kobalt for $75. It’s unlikely the wine is 2-3 times better. I’ve stopped buying Napa wines and just concentrating on Bordeaux, Rioja, Ribera del Duero & Italian wines. I do buy OR PN’s andBurgundy although their prices are getting absurd now too. Grand Cru’s have been absurd for a while now. There is plenty of very good wines that can be bought for less than $90 a bottle. This is where I am focused.

7/25/2022 8:41:00 AM - I think you are correct about the release price on this. I got a deal on this from Underground Cellar but in general I'm not buying the expensive 2017s. It's always an arms race discovering the great values before they become well known and I probably don't do myself any favors by writing tasting notes about my discoveries.

7/25/2022 9:54:00 AM - QL…There is lots of great wine out there. $125, $150 plus Napa wines on release that you can’t drink for 5 years plus is a game I’m not playing. I’m still buying 15 & 16 Bordeaux in the $50-$80 range that will be really great in 2-3 more years that I like better than CA wines. 15 Beausejour Becot for $80 is a steal and a wine I’ll put up against ANY CA wines. There are lots of other examples.
