Sunday, December 12, 2010 - Blackberry, red currant and oak vanillan nose. Flavors sing early out of the bottle but the wine falls off a bit after a few hours in decanter. For a ten year old wine with impeccable storage conditions, I found this disturbing just a bit. Chewy but well integrated tannins frame blackberry, anise and currant flavors. Just a bit out of balance on the tannin side. Still, overall, a very good example of Monte Bello with plenty to like, no flaws and worthy of its lineage.
