Friday, August 16, 2013 - First try of a half case. Having recently had the '99, this is surprisingly different. Similar texture, lovely mouthfeel, medium bodied, although more tannic than the '99. It also had more spice, wood and earth with less sweet fruit (the '99 excelled here). The finish is very long with a notable aniseed flavour, something I don't normally appreciate but it worked here. Clearly a well made wine, just lacks the charm and finesse of the '99 hence the lower score.
