Wednesday, January 16, 2013 - Surprisingly thin, without much nose or mouthfeel. Had nice flavors that opened up a bit in the glass. Perhaps it is in a dumb phase.
1/16/2013 11:19:00 PM - Most '06 Left Banks are in the dumb phase, especially St. Julien. Give the next bottle plenty of time, say maybe a try in 2018.
1/18/2013 4:39:00 AM - helpful - ty. always appreciate someone taking a shot on something we all know to be too early to update the rest of us. thanks for this. hope your next bottle of this is outstanding!
1/18/2013 11:18:00 AM - Thanks -- I knew it was young, but expected a little more weight. I bought 3 (and a half...) bottles so I could try it at different stages, so I know now to wait a few years before number 2.
Has anyone tried the '09 Bordeaux yet? We opened the 2009 Les Pagodes de Cos at the same tasting and it was really very good.
1/18/2013 4:26:00 PM - I haven't, but know people who have. Its starting to close shop, but its brute power is quite obvious. A local has some bottles for $86, and thinking of picking up an extra. Leoville Barton seem to need the most time in bottle of the 3 Leoville to come out of things after their deep sleep. The 2000 is built like a cold war bomb shelter, where the Poyferre is singing with just a couple hour decant. I love all 3 but Las Cases is just to expensive in years other than '08 and other where the still are higher than the average. I will wait until 2015 to pop the first 2000 LLC,
