Tuesday, March 24, 2020 - Feinherb i.e. semi-dry. 10 EUR in Tegut supermarket Germany.

Beautiful scent, fresh, intensive, fruity. Lots of juicy pear and elderberry.

In the mouth it is rather surprising. For one it has a rather oily consistence, then, the acidity is way below usual for Riesling; it's almost soft and there is little freshness.

So it's quite different from the typical Riesling, this is a wine that works itself through the middle, there again lead by pear, although a bit less defined than what one would expect based on scent.

I would interpret it as an attempt to make a Riesling for a more international palate or for people who usually find the grape too acidic. In sum it works reasonably well, especially the amount of residual sugar is well calibrated - not sweet in any way but enough to magnify the fruit.

On balance, a pretty satisfying if unusual wine, for me a bit more acidity and just a bit more grip in its core would elevate it higher.

QPR "more or less OK" - this is the market reality these days; I would welcome if this quality would be available for 7-8 EUR.
