2006 Château Beychevelle

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Sunday, September 6, 2015 - Bordeaux 2014 en primeur with Winefinder (Munchenbryggeriet, Stockholm): much more classic nose, more restrained, lovely, soft attack on the palate but well structured, fresh and elegant, tannins fairly fine grained, medium finish. Recommended. Drink now or hold for quite a few more years.

9/6/2015 10:33:00 PM - Thanks for your note. We have yet to crack open our case thinking perhaps too young. Do you think it is ready now or better to lay down a few more years?

9/7/2015 1:52:00 PM - I liked this wine, and I think you can definitely drink it now if you consider the body and the well rounded tannins. The nose was however somewhat restrained (but very pleasant) so this leads me to think that it will find a sweet spot some years to come. So I'd say - if you have a few of these - crack one open at the ten year mark next year and then watch it evolve over another ten years. You'll be fine either way. With the caveat that I often appreciate the zing of freshness in younger wine over the autumnal complexity many years down the line.
