Monday, February 28, 2011 - I really like this wine. It started out closed and a bit green but started to blossom around the 45 minute mark. Definitely get a sense of some stems mixed with subdued rasberry and some pomegranate. A bit of a vegetal nose but more in an interesting way, not in an off putting fashion. I also picked up some road tar and volcanic earthiness and minerality. Increbible well balanced, smooth tannins with a touch of heat at the very end of the finish. I would call this an intellectual wine. Almost a Cayuse like pinot experience without the drama of the huge flavors.
