Monday, April 18, 2005 - Typical of my experiences so far, this wine from the Saar was more structured than its Middle Mosel brothers. Lime, cherry and green leaf aromas carried through to full flavors, and a more elegant palate presentation than many 2003s. Very good persistence of flavor went along with a soft but cleansing acidity. While this wine would never have been confused with a 2001 (or a 1996 or 1998 for that matter), it did show that well balanced 2003s were possible below the level of auslese where I had most (but not all) of my success previously.
