Sunday, July 12, 2020 - I'm rediscovering the wonderful and delicious Dido Blanc, a go-to Montsant white for me, going back many years. Macabeu (50%), Garnatxa Blanca (40%) and Cartoixà (Xarel·lo) at 10%. Golden straw colour, luminous, a touch of copper as well. Creamy, buttery and a smidgen of reduction which fortunately pretty much vanishes after a few moments' swirling. Oily, fatty and dense. Almonds, walnuts and saline sensations. The fruit plays a secondary but no less important role: peaches, melones, apricots, even coconut. A long, generous finish, with elegant minerality. There's also an emotional component for me, reminding me of the Montsant landscape: rocky, dry, dramatic.
