Saturday, February 24, 2024 - Wow, what a ride!! I guess this would be considered somewhat of a 'Carlisle Unicorn ' at this point with only 25 cases produced 24 years ago, and I absolutely feel fortunate to have consumed it! First off, the color is beautiful (crimson red with essentially zero bricking).....but the amount of fine sediment in this wine is absolutely insane! Fortunately it does not detract from the wine which is a contemplative, yet utterly delicious at the same time. Blind you're calling Zinfandel because of the deep fruit and spice when it first hits your palate....but the acidity is very high and it has a juicy and slightly herbal component on the finish which would leave you scratching your head. I love wines like this - unique, tasty as hell, and keep you guessing. Life is good!
