Sunday, February 27, 2022 - If you have never taken the 10 min drive between Windsor & Alexander Valley ( known as part of the Chalk Hill Appelation ) this Chalk hill Road is breathtaking any time of year. The wines nose is a classic rich Sonoma County/ Russian River Chardonnay of depth , balance and a touch of Regalness. As Jim Linquist from Au Bon Climant always said … pick for Acid.
The ripe flavors of exotic mango , guava, papaya, jazz apple, Bosc pear, toasted almonds, with a warming acidity that gives the wine great length and finish. The Oak aging is spot on & balanced.
The age has added benefits from a good vintage. The texture is mouth filling and that attractive rawnes of pectin from an unfiltered wine with guts but elegance. Enjoy trough 2025 but it’s a gem right now. Only wish I had the Lady, fireplace & bearskin rug.
