Wednesday, February 28, 2024 - Extremely good showing, my first bottle of these 2004 Gajas. Still extremely youthful, but generous nose, resplendent with red fruit, roses, violets, intensified over the course of the evening. Palate still youthfully crunchy, mostly cherry but a long tart engaging finish. With dinner (truffle gnocchi, classic Italian ragu, and some well seasoned flank steak) the tannins calmed down a lot and the wine was almost silky. Very good now, likely better in the future.
