2019 Château Cos d'Estournel

95 Points

Thursday, February 15, 2024 - Due to Matt Scott's enticing review I decided to pull a 375 from the cellar. Not as lengthy of a decant but a strong showing none the less.

No harm in pulling one today but patience will reward the subtle complexities that will develop with time in the bottle.

95 today with plenty of upside.

Cos needs longer time in bottle than most Bdx IMO although I would imagine some approachability with the ‘19 vintage. As Mark suggested, if you like it now you will LOVE it in 20.

The intention of buying some small format was to try these early just to get a sense of the profile of fruit etc... I've been told when Cos d'Estrournel is firing it's an ah ha wine. I believe this might have been my first time trying this Chateau.
