Saturday, August 20, 2022 - Had this alongside a 2019 Mouton Rothschild. Both were obviously babies, but the experience showed me how great this vintage is likely to be for my palate. If you're drinking this wine now, I suggest you have it at pop and pour, because it was singing right out of the gate, started to shut down at a hour 2, woke back up and put on some weight for a while after that, and then finally went completely closed around hour 6-7.

Aromas of dark berries, violets, burnt embers, sweet oak and spice box emanate from the glass. Even compared to the Mouton, this is full bodied, with lots of density and weight, and it's going to need some time to come together properly. That said, this is a super expressive vintage, with spectacular pure and expansive fruit combined with the tension and structure to make it super long lived. I particularly loved the energy this showed in the mid palate, and the overall class of the wine. The finish is super long and savory. For some, the alcohol will be a bit off putting at this stage, but I enjoyed the experiment!
