Friday, December 1, 2023 - I’ve always been curious about Potensac — it’s well-regarded by the critics, but those I tasted have underwhelmed. The 2019 is available at my local Costco for $24, so I gave it a try.
As others have noted, this is an old school style of Left Bank Bordeaux: no fruit bomb here. The tannins are front and center, with tobacco, black pepper, and an herbal quality, while cassis notes lurks in the background. This is a pleasant wine, but there are better options around this price point.
