Thursday, August 6, 2020 - Nose > Both herbal/grassy & ripe, with fig, nectarine, red cherry & plum.
Not altogether harmonious, & the disparate elements are fighting each other.
Don't see it harmonizing to anything that's typical of Sancerre ahead.
Palate > More enjoyable, & slightly more typical on the palate. Still the combo of ripe/rich & herbaceous/grassy.
Adds a hint of almond to the nectarine. Acidity could be better.
Not sure if they were trying for mix of grape ripenesses, but they don't quite pull it off anyway.
Not a bad wine, per se, but not what most are expecting when the pop a bottle of Sancerre.
(I might score it a point, or point+ higher, but not as a Sancerre, since it's strayed from the beaten path a bit).
