Friday, April 2, 2010 - I was inventorying wine about 4:00 when Devin spotted the 04 “old vine” and a smile came to her face. I knew this is what I would be taking to Hannah’s. Despite it being Good Friday and knowing it would be a meatless night, I brought it anyway. After a single malt, Ashleigh our food server ran it through the Barbie Toilette, and Devin and I started picking it apart. The dark ruby color was perfect. Devin said, “Plum” as soon as it hit her blood hound nose. Then she said thyme. I don’t know if it was the power of suggestion but it did have some herbs in the nose. Again in the mouth, it was not as complex as one might expect. It was a mild smooth great tasting zin. Some minerals, a smokiness ,and currant. All around a very special zin. Glad I have a few more left.
