Thursday, December 20, 2012 - Open 3 hours, enjoyed with pizza: Little to no bricking. Smells really good, cocoa, dried cherry, dried herbs, tobacco, gravel and the faintest hint of graphite, all integrated and somehow creamy. Awesome. Texturally this is really nice, medium bodied with balanced acidity and very mellow but present tannin that dry the gums very late. The flavors on the palate stick to black cherry and dried cranberry. The herbal thing from the nose is present but light, also some sweet pipe tobacco and rich earth in the mid-palate and finish. Doesn't finish short, but isn't long either, and ends cleanly and balanced. This is a really good wine that is drinking great now, showing some youth and a bit of age. No rush on this, I'd say, but if you have some in your cellar, but totally worth checking in a bottle if you have multiples.
