Saturday, January 8, 2022 - Lighter in color than I was expecting bc I assumed copious botrytis. Big bold nose. Candied ginger. Poached tree fruit. Hint of herbaceousness. Hint of candied citrus. Broad palate that is slow to materialize. Rich. Sweet (to my taste this is a very sweet spatlese). There’s enough acid to hold it together but barely. I feel like the quality is high but I feel no need to drink a bunch of these and it’s largest over-arching character is that of the vintage Ripe. Low acid Botrytis. Ad someone who really only has wines I bought on release dating to 05 or so, I find this pleasantly fully mature: 06 and 03 are completely at odds w the still frightful youth and density of both 05 and 07.
