Monday, December 31, 2012 - Yes, it was cheap at its time, yes, it is a deuxième cru, yes, Anthony Barton is an icon in history, yes, it is a great vintage. BUT: This wines was completely as I expected: nice St. Julien nose (but the nice cedar nose of young Bartons fades after several years), almost no weight and austere finish. I don´t know why this Chateau is so overrated by winecritivcs around the globe. The wine is always cheaper than the other deuxième cru and I have an assumption why that is.
