90 Points

Saturday, March 1, 2008 - Popped, decanted and poured with Jambalaya for dinner. Fruit nose. Plum, cherry and other red fruits on the palate. There were a lot of secondary wood characteristics, like vanilla and a bit of roast coffee, but no direct wood flavors. There was pepper and spice, which came out more and more as the wine got some air. There is just a very tiny bt of zinfandel sweetness, but only a little. Very dark color, but still red rather than black. Very long finish. The alcohol is reported at 15.9%, but the wne is well balanced and unless you are looking for the heat, it is not that strong. If you hate alcohol in your wine, dring tea.
