90 Points

Wednesday, February 14, 2024 - Pnp. Very enticing nose of black cherry, pomegranate, lilacs, roses, sweet balsamic. Rather fruit forward but in an old world kind of way. The palate was medium bodied with chalky tannins and medium acid. Somewhat improved from the last time I had this wine, with very interesting aromatics and a lifted and elegant palate. To me just entering its drinking window. I had the 2019 recently which disappointed me but drinking this now just makes me think this bottling needs time. 90-91 pts drink now-2030.

2/15/2024 7:44:00 AM - The Monsanto CCR definitely requires some time. I feel the same about Felsina CCR and Rancia, and a few others. I haven't yet tried the '19 but assume it will want some time for sure. I think the '15 is drinking pretty well now and the '16, while never really closed down, will still benefit from a few more years.
