Saturday, May 27, 2023 - Wild and Crazy Memorial Weekend - Saturday (Chris' Castle aka Melissa's Manor): OK....I love white Burgundy, but am too lazy and too old to learn about them. However, when someone else who knows about them pulls one out, I am more than willing to help drink it! Well, this was one of those cases! Chris (csimm1161) graciously retrieved one out of his cellar and pulled the cork! This was young and vibrant...I thought it was very good, but others may appreciate the focus and cut more than I...I prefer them with some age where the acidity calms down and the texture becomes more rich and full. I still thoroughly enjoyed this wine though as it showed plenty of citrus, melon and pear...the creaminess from the pear played of the acidity from the citrus quite nicely! Also notes of slate, with hints of chalk coming out with some swirling and coaxing. A very pleasant Chardonnay! I would have a difficult time staying away from this young, but knowing the potential to vastly improve, I would content myself with other Chards for the next few years! 95+ now, but loads of potential to gain a couple points down the road!
