Friday, October 26, 2012 - The nose is classic Syrah, with bacon fat, floral notes, dark fruit and a rocky minerality. The palate is medium + bodied, with a great degree of ripeness but balancing elements of tannin and acid still present on the finish. This wine shows the best side of CA Syrah - ripe but restrained, with floral and fruit elements perfectly balanced by structure. This is drinking beautifully now, but I have one bottle left that I'll watch evolve over the next 1-3 years....it's in a good place but I think it can get even a little bit better if you are patient ( secretly I wish I had more! ).
