Thursday, May 19, 2011 - Hedges Cab Sayv/Merlot blend 13% no date (probably library release '98)
Food: With 1 yr Gouda
Look: Dark brick red to slight yellow edge; looks like an '89 posing as an excellent '95.
[After the taste, I am told that with UPC 80226 98775 it means probably a '98]
Cork: Fine
Bottle: Very little to no sediment
Nose: Initially dark molasses and a plum reduction; gunflint; great deep plum cobbler
Body: .8% to 1% milk
Taste: Earthy, almost like an older Chianti taste of light spiced cedar
Finish: 20-25 seconds
Summary: Light, old earthy, still fruit on the front end of tasting but fades quickly. Classic older WA Hedges taste.
Rating: 86 pts C+/C
