Friday, March 1, 2024 - Wines Tasted at the La Paulée Verticals Session (The Maybourne, Beverly Hills): Lighter ruby. Very different aromas than the 2020-more complete with a combination of some cooler tones plus the incredible fruit and some citrus peel. Slightly less plush, more elegant weight. Penetrating sweet blackberry, bitter chocolate, fantastic acidity, and furry tannins. Definitely the more structured wine, not that that really detracts from its immense early appeal. I think this may be the greater wine over the long term, but who can choose at this level?
