Friday, May 30, 2008 - Gaija Gaja led us through this amazing technical tasting at the Post Hotel Wine Summit in Lake Louise Alberta Canada. The beautiful daughter of Angelo was captivating, entertaining, and educational as she walked us thought the family history, vineyard history, and personal knowledge of nine spectacular bottles of wine. The 2004 Sori Tildin was one of the few wines where nearly everyone in attendance (90 people at this tasting) were in total agreement WOW. It was a beautiful purple violet in color. Dark and rich as well as inky. The first aromas were smoke, florals, and dare I say a pleasant vegemite/marmite smell. It was luscious on the tongue and viscous in the mouth and in the glass. Gaija declared this as young needing a few more years in the bottle and she should know, but it was incredible now. Upon the third and last sip, the taste and aroma could be more identified with roses, maybe some thyme, a touch of oak and minerals.
