Sunday, March 31, 2024 - The 2019’s I’m happy to report have finally come to life! Haha

Sight: Classic CC medium ruby color with some garnet on the rim.

Nose: Great concentration at this level! It’s quite intensely floral now with sweet rose, The fruit is showing ripe Amarena Cherry and you get the rustic touch of Tuscan leather/earthiness. This is what I look for in the nose of A quality Chianti (the 2019’s really just need time.)

Taste: The tannins are rustic (not too grippy) but still remain fine and the acid is still expectedly High. The palate at this level has some depth and length now which, is hard to find in $20 Chianti… I can tell things have started to come together here as the finish also is quite long too. Lots of Ripe, Red, cherry fruit, warm Cranberry, and a nice touch of spice to add some complexity. Again, Good concentration at this level it’s definitely not watery and full of flavor.

Overall: I had this next to Volpaia, and a Avignonesi VNDM and this was drinking very well and might have been the favorite. The 2019 was very tight upon release and it’s clear it’s starting to unfold and become very quaffable. The Volpaia is more modern and lighter in style with much less concentration this absolutely out shined it in every way. **wine is Rated lower than it should be for value it deserved 90pts **

Clearly a old school Chianti style with the addition of 5% Canaiolo being more chewy Vs the 10% Merlot in the Volpaia making it considerably softer.
