Friday, April 28, 2023 - A balmy spring evening in Southern California with grilled salmon called out for a rose. 1st glass prior to dinner was sharp and flinty with not much on the nose. 2nd glass with dinner began to show some straw and strawberry on the nose. The strawberry continues on the palate along with some herbaceous notes. You can easily notice the Syrah emphasis in the blend but it just doesn’t translate into the richness you’d expect. Finish was too steely. Needed more time with the skins during fermentation. Purchased at Bristol Farms for about $14…you can get it for $10; but I’d take a pass.
