Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - First exposure to Estrella Creek PS was at specialty event showcasing producers of Petite Sirah. Estrella and only one other producer had what I consider to be outstanding offerings. The most striking aspect is how dark it is -- almost as dark as Rasmussen Esoterica PS (...darkest wine I've ever had)! The nose is somewhat subdued but hints at raisin; hardly any wood, but a little spice. It is very fruit-forward on the palate, with a BIG berry profile (which seems to have turned off other commenter, unfortunately) but that I really enjoyed, and paired well with the cheese and sauce of my lasagna. I suspect that this would pair wonderfully with a good steak. The ABV is 14.8% but it was not "hot" at all. After about an hour it really mellowed and softened to the point where my wife and I sipped it on its own. Finish is not overly long but clean.
