Sunday, July 16, 2023 - Having had the 2020 Jadot Beaujolais Villages a couple times and finding it satisfying, not to mention available in a pinch from shops not catering to wine geeks, I happened upon the Combe Aux Jacques. It’s a step up. Not epic but fairly priced, and a step up in form. It was thoroughly satisfying for a casual meal.

Ripe and clean 2020 Gamay fruit statement with black cherry and anise tones. There’s a bright acidity along with some fine tannins for amusement, and good persistence. Consumed easily with a laid back dinner, we regretted that it didn’t come in a liter bottle.
