Friday, March 11, 2022 - I rarely drink Chateauneuf, but I have to say this is fabulous. Aromas of chambord, kirsch, blackberry jam and juicy plums, spice cabinet, subtle lavender and dried rose petals, a little olive, nori and green tobacco too. Powerful and thick on the palate, beautiful warmth and resonance, very fruity and ripe, quite tannic as well, acids come through somehow, there's great focus and concentration here. Long and saturating finish, with beautiful integration of alcohol heat and genuinely spicy/herbal flavors, plus exuberant and extraordinarliy fragrant fruit that just won't give up. I wanna say that this needs 5 years, and that I can imagine it will be most interesting in 15 to 20+, but it is so delicious right now!
