Wednesday, August 5, 2009 - Opened 30 minutes prior, poured through a Vinturi and drunk over a couple of hours. Good deep inky purple colour. On the nose a smell of putty/playdoh, plastic, nail polish remover covering faint raspberries and cassis. On the palate a good mouthfeel with big fruits with a predominance of Cassis and black Raspberries which quickly transitions to a more disjointed astringent menthol, tart cherries, toasted oak and vanilla finish. There is some heat of the finish too and it seems to get more predominant over time which is somewhat off putting with the menthol and tart finish. I’m a little disappointed as I would have expected that the bottle would have tamed this somewhat. Ok bottle but not a repeat buy.
