Monday, November 13, 2023 - Clos Floridene's 2020 rouge is an opaque crimson blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Aromatically oozing with red and black bramble fruits, mulling spices, tobacco, savory herbs, iron and violets, it is a medium-bodied, energetic red with nicely integrated alcohol (14%), silky-textured tannins and proportionate oak. With flavors that mirror the nose, a dense mid-palate and medium-to-long finish, this is beyond impressive for any wine at such an attractive price point. Sampled over four hours from a bottle that had been decanted through a Vinturi aerator, it fully opened after the first two hours in carafe. Drink now-2035.
