Monday, August 26, 2019 - Finally a Barolo that showed its passion potential. The wine is clear and light in appearance as a Pinot Noir but has a gentle introduction of powerful tannin. Sleek power Clint Eastwood like, not brute power such as a Schwarzenegger.
It was served chilled but very drinkable. The tannins slowly unwound. I believe it would still be unwinding for hours more.
The sommelier states 2014 was a good year. Most Barolo last only 4 years with exception. This is contrary to what I’ve understood and to the information on CellarTracker. So I think his he wrong in a good way.
I believe this vintage of Serra has potential to score 94-96. Time will tell. It’s very good now. I feel it has a long drinking window .
